Terms of Use
Updated 2026-10-20
In short
- The App is for people aged 18 and over.
- Notes leave the map 24 hours after they are posted.
- Harassment, other people’s personal information, sexual content, and similar things are not allowed. Notes, display names, and group names are checked against a list of banned words when sent, and matching text cannot be posted.
- Reports go to the operator and are reviewed within 24 hours. Notes that break the Terms are removed, and the author can no longer post.
- You can delete your notes and your account at any time.
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of CityNote (the “App”), provided by an individual developer (the “Operator”). By using the App you agree to these Terms.
1. Agreement
You agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy when you start using the App (when you tap the button on the last screen at first launch, or before your first post). If these Terms change, we will let you know in the App, and continuing to use the App means you accept the updated Terms.
2. Eligibility
The App is for people aged 18 and over.
3. The service
The App lets you stick “notes” (short text posts) on a map that other users, or members of your group, can read on the map. Each note can be “Public”, “Group”, or “Only me”. Notes leave the map 24 hours after they are posted. If you add a place to “Watch”, new notes posted near it come to you. No registration is required; your posts are tied to an anonymous identifier. Anyone with the link can read a “Public” note in a web browser, even without the app. After 24 hours, the note’s page says the note has ended.
4. Prohibited conduct
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. You must not:
- Defame, harass, threaten, or use discriminatory language against anyone
- Post someone’s personal information without permission (address, phone number, images of their face, etc.)
- Encourage trespassing on private homes or property
- Lead others to dangerous places or acts
- Promote or advertise illegal activity, including selling drugs
- Post sexual or violent content, or anything inappropriate toward minors
- Post spam or unauthorized advertising
- Infringe copyrights, trademarks, or other rights
- Do anything else the Operator reasonably considers inappropriate
5. Safety features and how we respond
- Automatic filtering: Notes, display names, and group names are checked against a list of banned words when sent, and matching text cannot be posted.
- Reporting: Open another user’s note, tap “⋯” in the top-right corner, and choose “Report” to flag it to the Operator. You can also flag a note from its web page with “Report this note”, without signing in.
- Blocking: Open another user’s note, tap “⋯” in the top-right corner, and choose “Block this user”. Their notes no longer appear for you. You can unblock under My page → Other → Blocked.
- Action within 24 hours: Reports go to the operator and are reviewed within 24 hours. Notes that violate these Terms are removed, and the user who posted them is suspended from posting.
- Users who keep violating these Terms face further action.
- If you were suspended and believe it was a mistake, contact us at the address below.
- You can delete your own notes at any time. You can delete your account under My page → Other → Settings → Delete account.
6. Disclaimer
- The App relies on real-world coordinates and map data, and we do not guarantee the accuracy of location or map display.
- The Operator is not responsible for content posted by users.
- To the extent permitted by law, the Operator is not liable for damages arising from use of the App.
7. Changes
We may change these Terms when needed. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and we will announce important changes in the App.
8. Contact
For questions about these Terms, or to report inappropriate content or abusive users, email italyitalienitalia@gmail.com (Support).
